Kristiansand museum group tours

Experience the history of Kristiansand and Setesdal and get a feel for life in days gone by way back in 1580. You can visit nearly 40 different houses at the open-air museum at Kongsgård. Join a tour of the farmyard surrounded by authentic buildings from Setesdal.

At «Bygaden», you can see houses that once stood in the centre of Kristiansand. You will find places like a tinsmith’s workshop, a watchmaker’s shop, craftsmen’s houses, workers’ houses, a traditional general store and a grand house and associated pavilion. The backyards tell the story of life in a major city, where people had to share small yards in order to get enough space to hang out their washing, store wood or keep a few hens. You can also see the city of Kristiansand in miniature, showing what it looked like in the early 1900s. Our authentic souvenir shop gives you a chance to take a little piece of Norwegian culture home with you.
Walking distance: 1 km.
The houses are not accessible by wheelchair.
