Let´s go international!

Tittelen til vårt prosjekt er «With Identity on the Line. How museums can contribute to reconciliation in the society.»

With Identity on the Line is a comprehensive cooperation project between eight cultural history museums and two Universities from six countries in Europe, working together with the purpose to gather, produce and facilitate new knowledge about the possibilities and limitations of the museums in contributing to reconciliation in societies. The project´s highest goal is to present concrete and useful theoretical and practical knowledge to museum professionals how to work with new audiences on sensitive issues, and to facilitate new knowledge about universal aspects of human life such as identity, the need for belonging, and the importance of shared values to a broad European audience.

Through large scale joint meetings, co-operation with experts from other areas of expertise, implementation of theories and comprehensive workshops with to-the-point training, the overall organization of With Identity on the Line will contribute to increased knowledge among professionals and their transnational mobility with a view to enabling them to cooperate internationally. Thereby we will strengthen the capacity of the European cultural and creative sector to operate transnationally and internationally and to promote the transnational circulation of cultural and creative work.

By working together directly with new audiences and underrepresented groups in the local society, by presenting unheard voices telling difficult stories and by testing new ways to do so, each of the cultural history museums will contribute to a more open and hopefully better society where more people feel they are seen and recognized by others. Audience development is defined as our main object.

By sharing the outcomes of this work also on regional, national and international levels and by taking ongoing intercultural dialogues into consideration, With Identity on the Line aims to cause a greater understanding among the people in Europe for shared values and respect for other cultures. Further, there is also the importance of a positive and effective social integration of migrants and refugees. In total, the project will produce nine exhibitions and an online publication and will reach more than a million people.
